Writer & Director

Kaely Michels-Gualtieri is a playwright, director, and former professional trapeze artist who performed internationally with companies including Cirque du Soleil and Ringling Bros. for over a decade. Her 19th-century archival research has won several academic awards. Her artistic work blends theatre, history, and physical performance, with a focus on spectacle, memory, and narrative. 1 Night at Ford’s Theatre is her first full-length musical.

“The Maestro”

Chi Wai Hu

Composer

Chi Wai Hu is a composer and musical director based at the University of Cambridge. His work spans musical theatre and contemporary composition, with a focus on collaborative, interdisciplinary performance — including original productions at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and award-winning film scores screened internationally. He has worked across student theatre productions in Cambridge, developing original scores and leading musical direction for new writing.

“The Bandleader”

Sydney Nguyen

Musical Director

Sydney Nguyen is a multi-instrumentalist and longtime pit band enjoyer, having played in pit bands since age 11. She first ventured to the other side of the conductor’s podium in 2024, musical directing a production of Chicago at MIT.

Her other musical direction and assistant musical direction credits include multiple shows at Cambridge’s ADC Theatre, such as Into the Woods, RUSH, The Wind in the Willows, and Gala. At this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, she is also involved in Midnight Train to Nowhere (violin) and How to Fix a Fairytale (MD).

Before pursuing her MPhil at Cambridge, she studied carillon (the bell tower instrument) at the Royal Carillon School in Mechelen, Belgium. She has given carillon concerts in the US, Belgium, the Netherlands, and France, including a concert for the Festival van Oude Muziek in Utrecht. She is the recipient of the Frank Huntington Beebe Musicians’ Fellowship and Wellesley College’s Billings Award for achievement in music performance.

“The Impresario”

Sabrina Steuer

Producer & Co-Lyricist

Sabrina Steuer is a communications, events, and people strategist. Before completing her MPhil in Latin American Studies at Cambridge University, she spent six years delivering large-scale campaigns and managing organisational change across the UK Civil Service. She is a Chartered CIPD professional with a particular focus on talent development and change management.

Sabrina is passionate about building community: she founded one of the UK’s first student-led Latin American societies, alongside producing academic conferences, talks, and large-format live events at both Durham and Cambridge Universities. She now brings that same rigour and love of connecting people and ideas to the stage, producing and co-writing the lyrics for 1 Night at Ford’s Theatre.

“The Showrunner”

Mira Michels-Gualtieri

Producer

Mira Michels works as a researcher at King’s College London, where she is exploring the abortion pill mifepristone as a potential non-progestin, non-estrogen-containing contraceptive. She is currently applying to medical school with the goal of becoming a reproductive health specialist and is passionate about reproductive justice, theater, and storytelling as tools for social change.

She collaborated with Women on Web on a reproductive justice project featured at the Malta Biennale International Arts Festival, which used art as a medium to engage global conversations on reproductive autonomy in restrictive legal contexts. She also facilitated the international presentation of “Blood of the Lamb”, a theatrical work on the criminalization of pregnancy, at the King’s College London Reproduction Salon, integrating storytelling and advocacy within an academic space.

“The Proprietor”

Nora Morikawa

Producer

Nora Morikawa holds a PhD in Linguistics from the City University of New York. She spent 7 years working in the tech industry before joining Eclipsing Stars. She lives in San Francisco with her family.

“Spectacle-Maker”

Mimi Thompson

Assistant Producer

Mimi Thompson is a Thai-British writer, actress, and producer. She works in Events, alongside pursuing her masters in Creative Writing at the University of Cambridge. Mimi performs character comedy that focuses on feminism and Thai culture in her solo shows, which she also produces. She’s thrilled to be developing her production skills as Assistant Producer on a musical like 1 Night at Ford’s Theatre that explores family, history, and memory so passionately.
